As I’m sure you know, this is brilliant, Troy. I am excited and terrified by how much I’ve fallen for dear Lamb.

After D’s punk friend Lamb disappears on the eve of moving into their new apartment, the announcement of his death three years later haunts D for decades. When he opens Lamb’s cache of journals to set the record straight with a mutual friend, he discovers a written record that casts new light on his memories.

From the early days of their alliance at an elite all-boys school, to San Francisco and Burning Man in the 90s, recollections of Lamb’s gentle nature, his private school tribulations, and years of partying and missed connections paint a portrait of a desperately lonely and sensitive young man. Lamb’s private writings tell stories of anguish and rage at the cruel treatment of vulnerable children and naive youth. In bringing to light these most private thoughts and feelings, D finally reckons with the complicated nature of his relationship with this sweet and misunderstood misfit.

Told through reminiscences, journal excerpts, letters, poetry, and short stories, Lamb is a snapshot in episodes of young men coming of age after the decimation of AIDS—a sometimes shiny, sometimes dark afterparty of gay awakening.
